E-Filing & Fax Filing
Pursuant to Local Rules of Court, Rule 1.10 and the California Rules of Court the Plumas Superior Court accepts facsimile (fax) filings in Civil, Probate and Family Law as well as Juvenile Dependency case types. Fax filings are also accepted in our Appellate Division pursuant to Local Rules of Court, Appendix B
Fees
Fees detailed below are calculated and assessed for e-filing & fax filings. Additional filing fees may apply depending on the type of legal document being filed.
Calculated E-Filing & Fax Filing Fees
- Additional filing fees as appropriate
- A credit card service fee may be charged
- Up to $200.00 - $6.00 fee
- $200.01 and above - 3% fee
Additional Civil Document Filing Fees

Parties filing under an approved Fee Waiver will have any relevant fees waived.
E-Filing & Fax Filing Instructions
- Documents submitted for filing must be legible and in proper format as set forth in CRC 2.100 and 2.300.
- A Facsimile Transmission Cover Sheet is mandatory with all fax filings (form MC-005PDF Document), pursuant to CRC 2.304(b).
- Credit card information must be included on the cover sheet, including the 3- or 4-digit CVV. The credit card number must match the address listed on the cover sheet. The court accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit/debit cards.
- Telephone No. and Email Address must be filled in on the cover sheet.
- The total number of pages received should match the number of pages stated on the cover sheet.
- If the cover sheet is missing or incomplete, the filing will be rejected.
- Each document must include the phrase 'By fax' immediately below the document title. Documents submitted without this notation are incomplete and cannot be filed.
- Fax the cover sheet and document to: (530) 283-6415 or email to efiling@plumas.courts.ca.gov
- The party filing by fax or e-filing has the responsibility of keeping the original document in their possession or control (CRC 2.305).
- Documents received by the court on or before 4:00 PM Pacific Time on a court business day, will be file-stamped with the court date received. Documents received after 4:00 PM Pacific Time will be file-stamped as received the following court business day. Note: A filing is considered to be received at the time the last page of the document is received.
Filing & Payment Accepted
Upon approval and acceptance of the filing, a receipt of payment will be sent to the email address provided in the upper section of the Cover Sheet (form MC-005), if provided. Confirmation of receipt beyond that given by the standard confirmation option of the filing party's fax machine is not provided.
If return of a conformed copy of the filed document(s) is required, you may add this request on the Cover Sheet (form MC-005). The court will add the applicable processing and/or mailing fees.
Filing or Payment Rejected
If the credit/debit card issuing company rejects the charge, the court may call the filing party to seek alternate payment and/or mail a Notice of Return. If a document is rejected for filing, the entire document must be resubmitted, including the Cover Sheet (form MC-005). The court may call to notify the filing party of the rejection and/or mail a Notice of Return.
Additional Information
The following items may not be filed by fax, regardless of the case type:
- Any will, codicil, or testamentary trust;
- Bond or undertaking;
- Subpoenaed documents;
- Financial institution documents, care facility documents, or escrow documents as defined under Probate Code § 2620, submitted by conservators, guardians, or trustees of court supervised trusts;
- California state vital records forms;
- Any documents with attachments/exhibits that cannot be accurately transmitted via fax filing due to size or type;
- Documents typically submitted during the course of a proceeding (e.g. Trial Exhibits);
- Documents lodged with the court provisionally under seal;
- Labor Commissioner deposit of cash or check.
